SUPERFREAK OPEN JAM
Have you ever wanted to play in a band but found it too difficult to find time and like minded musicians?
Well, you better read this.
Superfreak Studios is thrilled to arrange its own Open Jam sessions.
These are designed to attract like-minded musicians to get together on a monthly basis to play familiar songs in an informal and relaxed environment.
We will organise the group of people and genre of songs in our acoustically designed rooms over a 3 hour session. Our rooms include full PA system with microphones and acoustic drum sets.
These sessions will be arranged on a monthly basis so it gives everyone enough time to practice the chosen songs, but may change to a fortnightly session if interest is high. Cost is $40 per person.

- DrummersBring cymbals, sticks and anything else they wish to use of their own (ie snare drum, kick pedal, etc).

HOW DOES THIS ALL WORK?
We have created a list of songs in specific groups and will discuss the songs with other group members to make sure you can prepare for the session. We may not be able to play all the songs on the list but would be planning to perform at least 8-10 songs per session.
The plan is to also have 2 players of each instrument (2 drummers, 2 guitarists etc) so that we can spread the load and ensure everyone has an opportunity to play… like a tag in and out system after every song.
This will also make sure we have a full band in case there are any cancellations on the day.
Please note: We recommend you learn the songs prior to the session so you are prepared and can get straight into jamming and performing. We have a limited time so this is important as we wish to avoid delays in learning songs on the day.
Rules for a great jam
RULE 1
SHARE THE PLAYING
What does this mean? Kindly sub in and out on the day.
Play a few songs then let the other musicians play a few songs.
WHY IS THIS IMPORTANT?
For the majority of the session there will be at least 2 of your instrument types organised for the same group, so the day functions better when you play your songs you have nominated and allow the other player to play the songs they have nominated.
It’s fundamental to Superfreak Open Jam continuing as it will allow everyone to have a turn and will make them feel included. All round, a more positive experience for all involved.
RULE 2
Advise Superfreak Open Jam team which songs you want to play before the jam. This helps give the group some direction and time to practice the songs before the day. It results in a great free flowing jam day.
ADVICE FOR THE JAM SESSION
The thing about this community is it supports people who support the idea. We hope everyone will try to be tolerant, respectful and courteous. It will result in a better community filled with supportive, easy going and understanding musicians who just want to see people do their best and enjoy each other’s company and play some cool music.
We also have a no alcohol policy meaning alcohol is not permitted to be consumed at the venue as we are not licensed. Consumption of drugs is prohibited and anyone under the influence of drugs and alcohol will be asked to leave immediately with no refunds of payments.
